Fees and Enrolment:
Fee Policy
As a licensed childcare facility, fees are the parents/families' share and are due on the first day of each month, with a maximum grace period of 5 business days. If parents or guardians are applying for a Child Care Subsidy, they are still required to pay the full fee amount on the first day of each month. The subsidy application must be completed separately for reimbursement. It is the responsibility of parents or guardians to adhere to the requirements set by the Child Care Subsidy Branch and to provide all necessary documentation to determine eligibility for the subsidy. If the fee is not paid within the 5-day period, a penalty of $30 per day will be applied starting from the 2nd day, up to the 10th day of the month. If payment and penalties are not settled by the 10th day, the child's attendance and contract with the facility will be terminated.
Fee Procedure
Parents/guardians are responsible for paying the childcare fee till they apply for a subsidy and determine whether they are eligible or not. It is the parent/guardian’s responsibility to keep all information current with the childcare subsidy branch and A Wave of Stars Childcare (relationship status, work/school status, family income, reason for care, address, phone number, etc.). Parents are responsible for the portion of fees that are not covered by subsidy and will be billed monthly for these fees. Total tuition is required regardless of statuary holidays, child’s illness, and personal vacations. If parent/guardian is eligible for subsidy they must provide daycare with copies of the application and supporting documents. Renewal of subsidy must be started at the beginning of the month that subsidy expires, and copies of forms must be kept on file until the acceptance letter is received. If parents wish to start their child before subsidy acceptance, full payment for the month will be requested. The parent will be reimbursed their fees once the subsidy is received.
Pre-payment Agreement
To reserve a space at A Wave of Stars Childcare, new registrants are required to pay a non-refundable registration fee of $150, along with a deposit equal to half of the monthly fee. If parents decide to cancel their spot, only the deposit will be refunded, provided they give a two-month advance notice before the scheduled start date. Without this advance notice, both the registration fee and the deposit will be non-refundable.
Withdraw Procedure
A written notice of two months is required for withdrawal from the childcare program. This notice must be submitted on the first day of the month that is two months before the end of care. If proper notice is not provided, one month's full fee must be paid upon withdrawal from the childcare program.
Probationary Period
The initial month of enrollment is considered a probation period for assessing the child's adaptation to the childcare environment and meeting performance expectations. Withdrawal during the probation period does not require to provide a reason from either the parents/guardians or the childcare center. However, the probation period is a time for supervising and sets the steps for future performance expectations. Both parents and childcare center have the right to child(ren) withdrawal if the child is unable to adapt or adjust within the first initial month or as per the caregiver’s opinion. Some reasons can be that the kid has social, emotional, or physical needs that the caregiver feels he/she is unable to provide for. A one-week notice is required for either the parent or the caregiver. Part of the monthly fee may be returned according to the days that the child attended the childcare facility for the probationary period. As mentioned before, the deposit is not refundable.
